Brenda Aaberg

May 8, 1938 — May 7, 2025

Brenda Ann Aaberg (nee Kuenneth) passed away on May 7, 2025 at Central Baptist Village in Norridge, Illinois. Born May 8, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Brenda was one of two children born to Herbert and Ann Kuenneth. Brenda was united in marriage to John Aaberg on August 25, 1962. They lived in the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago for more than 55 years before they came to share a room at Central Baptist Village.

Brenda is survived by her brother Charles (Eileen), sons Nathan (Mayumi) Aaberg and Behrnt (Cynthia Mueller) Aaberg and three grandchildren – Alden, Owen, and Faryn. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Ann Kuenneth, and her husband John.

She grew up in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago, attending St. John the Divine Church and graduating from Clissold Elementary School and Morgan Park High School.  She worked in downtown Chicago for several years before marrying John Aaberg, who she had met at a bowling event.

She raised her two sons in Logan Square, seeing them through elementary and high school, and was active in those schools as part of parents’ groups and fundraisers.

She demonstrated great charity: helping friends, neighbors and strangers with assistance, kindness, and conversation. Brenda was also a committed philanthropist to a variety of organizations.

A life celebration service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greater Chicago Food Depository (4100 W. Ann Lurie Place, Chicago, IL 60632).
