Billie O'Connor

Billie K. O'Connor (nee Cavitt) age 74, of River Grove, Illinois, passed away on May 30, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents William Cavitt and Marie Cavitt-Mragascz (nee Salemi), her husband of 45 years, Denis O'Connor Sr. and her daughter Kathie (Stuart) Bruce. She is survived by her daughter Mary (Joe) Targett of Crown Point Indiana, Son Denis O'Connor Jr. of River Grove, Grandchildren Danny, Jack and Mia. Sister and brother-in-law of Al and Kitty Melera of Twin Lakes Wisconsin and aunt and cousin to many.
As a 51 year resident, Billie loved her adopted hometown of River Grove. She most recently served the community by helping to operate its food pantry. She was very involved at Rhodes School as a room mother, volunteer and PTA member. This is where she met some of her closest friends the "Rhodes Scholars". She was also a Campfire Troup Leader, Cub Scout pack leader and girls softball coach. her dedication and presence around town will be greatly missed. Visitation for Billie will take place on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, IL. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Monday at 9:00 am and will then proceed to St. Cyprian Church in River Grove for 10:00 am Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
