Benedetto "Benny" Guerra

Benedetto (“Benny”) Guerra, age 89, died peacefully at home on August 3. Born in Italy in 1936 just before the breakout of WWII, he endured poverty and developed a life-long work ethic as a product of surviving post-war Italy. He followed his two older siblings to Venezuela at a young age, where he learned the art of shoe making. He came to this country in 1957 and worked at Florsheim Shoe Company for years and opened Benny’s Shoe Repair in 1975. He was an institution in Norridge for over 50 years - until he retired last November at the age of 89. Benny is survived by his wife Domenica (née Naccarata), his three children, Michael (Tammy), Pasquale (Kelly) and Maria (James); his grandchildren Benedict, Dominique, Joseph, Antoinette, Melissa, Katelyn, and Matthew; his brother-in-law Tommaso Naccarata and his wife Rosa (née Fanelli), and his sisters Rosa, Santella, Stella, and Nicollete. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Michele and Maria (née Brandonisio), his brother Giuseppe and his sister Anna.

Visitation for Benny will take place on Thursday, August 6th, 2026 from 3-8 PM at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W, Lawrence Ave. in Norridge. Funeral Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will proceed to St. Paul of the Cross Church for Mass 12:00 noon. Entombment All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
