Barbara Morreale

Born into a close-knit family of nine children, Barbara was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, alongside her four sisters and four brothers. She attended Cathedral Catholic School before beginning what would become a lifelong dedication to nursing and caring for others.

Barbara was offered the opportunity to attend St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, where she earned her degree in nursing sciences. Eager to broaden her experiences, she and several fellow nurses eventually left Indianapolis for Chicago, where Barbara continued her education and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.

It was in Chicago that Barbara’s life took another wonderful turn when she met her new next-door neighbor, Vince. The two began dating, and after three years together, they were married, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span 51 years.

Professionally, Barbara devoted 30 years to Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, where her talent, dedication, and leadership led her to become Director of Operating Room Nursing, a position she proudly held for 15 years. Her career was marked not only by professional accomplishment, but also by the compassion and commitment to others that defined so much of her life.

Following her retirement, Barbara embraced the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the things that mattered most to her—spending time with Vince, family, and friends, and enjoying the life they had built together.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave, Norridge, IL 60706. Family and friends will meet on Friday, October 23, 2026 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 708 W. Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657 for a visitation from 10:00 A.M. till time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M.. Entombment to follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Hillside.
