Armida Dati, (nee Bandaccari), age 91 passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the adored wife of Aldo, who preceded her in death and the devoted mother of Noemi (Sam) Spina, Oliver (Dawn) Dati and Anna (Renzo) DiCola. A strong, determined woman, Armida exhibited her independent fighting spirit throughout her life and remained hopefully optimistic no matter what fate brought her way.
Armida was born in a small town named Pariana, in the picturesque mountains of Tuscany to Giovanni and Silvia, who had four children, two who preceded her in death, Setimio and Marchello and one surviving brother, Bruno. Armida resided in Pariana until emigrating to the US after her marriage to Aldo. A handsome young man, Aldo was visiting his grandparents when he fell in love with the stunning redhead next door. He serenaded her under her window until he left for home and vowed to return to marry her which he did shortly thereafter.
Widowed at a young age with three children in a new country, Armida threw all she had into making an incredible life for her children that was filled with love, her delicious cooking and her infectious laugh. When her children left home to begin their lives with their families, she continued to bring her passions into raising and nurturing her beloved grandchildren Rene’, Anthony (Annie), Jeanette (Brian), Michael (Ashley), Nicholas and Alexander, along with great grandchildren Anthony, Jayden, Sofia and Matthew, to whom she was known as “Nonna.”
Armida encouraged hard work and education to all generations of her family but constantly reminded them that a strong commitment to family and a love of God was of most importance. Her absence leaves a void in the hearts of all that loved her.
