Antonina Scardina

Antonina Scardina, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. A former longtime resident of Norridge, Antonina was born in San Nicola, Sicily, Italy to the late Gaetano and Girolama (née Corona) D'Ugo.

Antonina was the beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Scardina. She was a loving and devoted mother to Giovanni (Rosalia) Scardina and Gaetano (Lucy) Scardina. She was a cherished grandmother to William (Margaret) Kalamaris, Joseph (Jill) Scardina, and Robert (Marie) Scardina, and a proud great-grandmother to Madison, Marissa, and Margaret Kalamaris, as well as Kayla and Addison Scardina, all of whom brought her immense joy.

She was the dear sister of Girolama (Nunzio) Rizzo and the late Lucia D'Ugo, a  loving aunt to Pietro (Luisa) Rizzo, and the late Maria Benincasa-Rizzo, a treasured great-aunt to Caterina, Pietro, and Martina Benincasa and Giuliana and Francesca Rizzo. Antonina will be remembered for her deep love of family, her strength, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her.

Visitation for Antonina will take place on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. The funeral will then proceed to Queen of Peace Parish at St. Eugene Church for an 11:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will be private.

Antonina’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion to her family will be carried on by all who knew and loved her.
