Anthony (Tony) Seminaro passed away unexpectedly at the age of 85 after complications from Covid 19. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (née Kolodziejski) for 28 wonderful years; dearest brother of Roseann (the late Ken) Catalano and the late Russell (Georgia Ann); devoted son of the late Anthony and the late Barbara (Jakubauskas ). He was “Uncle Tony” to many many loving nieces and nephews and dear cousin to many.
He retired from the Chicago Park District in 1993, where he worked in Construction and Building Maintenance.
He graduated from Austin High School and studied art at Wright Junior College and the Art Institute of Chicago. Tony was a man of many talents. After learning to play the guitar, he and his brother Russ formed a dance band while in high school and went on to play for weddings for many years. In his spare time, he attended Selan’s Beauty School and worked as a part time hairdresser for a time.
Tony also had many interests and hobbies. He was an avid collector of antique cars, clocks, artwork,, books, records, etc. etc.
The accomplishment he was most proud of was his 29 years of service in the U.S. Army National Guard during which time he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant First Class.
In 1994 he married the love of his life and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where they enjoyed the next 28 years. He loved the warm sunny climate and made many good friends and happy memories there. Family and friends were very important to him and he and Joyce made frequent trips back to Chicago to visit. He touched so many lives with his kindness, generosity, quick wit and sense of humor. He was “Uncle Tony” to everyone he knew and will be sorely missed.
Visitation Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL 60706. Funeral service begins Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will proceed to St. Monica Church in Chicago for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, Il.
