Andrew Palahniuk, age 72, passed away suddenly on January 16, 2021, at his home in Naples, Florida. Andrew was the beloved husband of Cheryle, nee Fusko, for 44 wonderful years; loving father of Mark (Chelsey Dirks) Palahniuk; dearest son of the late Luba and Wasyl Palahniuk; cherished grandfather of Mitchell Kohnz; dear brother of Motria (Andres) Durbak, Roman and the late Mark Palahniuk; dear son in law of the late Wilma and Charles Fusko and brother in law to Chuck (Arlene), Carol (Matt), Cindy (Larry), Craig (Ann),Tom (Kim),and Rick (Kim). Andy was loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Andy graduated high school from Lane Tech and the University of Illinois with a degree in Criminal Justice.
He was an Investigator for the CPD for 27 years. Before retiring to Florida, Andy spent most of his life in Chicago and loved it’s food, and sporting events. Andy enjoyed sharing his love of soccer and car shows with his son and grandson. He also enjoyed playing slots at casinos, traveling and reading crime novels. He will truly be missed by many. Visitation Friday, January 22, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of a 7:00 p.m. Panachyda service at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. The funeral will be Saturday, friends and family are asked to gather at St. Joseph the betrothed Ukrainian Catholic Church 5000 N. Cumberland Ave. Norridge, IL at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass at 10:30 a.m. The interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to: St. Joseph the betrothed Ukrainian Catholic Church would be appreciated. For more information call (708)456-8300.
