Alice M. Giroux, age 95, died peacefully Oct. 9, 2012 at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton, IL. Alice was born Dec. 18, 1916 and moved to Chicago in the 1930's. Alice Graduated from Sullivan High School in Chicago and then from St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in 1939. She joined the Army Nurse Corp and was trained as a nurse anesthetist. She was discharged with the rank of Captain. After WWII, she became head Nurse-Stewardess for the Baltimore-Ohio Railroad. Following that she worked at the Railroad Retirement Board in Chicago. After retirement, she worked at Walgreens for a few years. Alice was a Norridge resident for 57 years and long time member of St. Eugene Church and also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, George O. Sr. and Margaret (nee Kelly) Giroux and her brother George O. Jr. Giroux. Survived by Rosette (John) Bagley of Naperville and niece, Michelle (the late Martin) Jonas of Mt. Prospect. Visitation for Alice will be Thursday from 3 until 9 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Funeral will be Friday beginning at the funeral home at 9 a.m. and then proceeding to St. Eugene Church for 10 a.m. Mass.
