December 31, 1969 — February 7, 2024

Alfred DiPinto, age 94, U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024. Alfred was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen A., nee Smythe; loving father of Mary Lou (Barry) Skeens, Nancy (Bob) Gregor, Kathy DiPinto-Albergo and Tricia (Steve) Treder; dear son of the late Elena, nee Zarlenga, and Romolo DiPinto; cherished grandfather of Jim (Melissa) Trew, Cathryn (Mike) Salter, Laura (Tom) McAuliffe, and Scott (Angela) Gregor, Billy, Alec and Analiesse Albergo, Shane and Zach Treder; proud great grandfather of Olivia, Gemma, Everett, Paige, Jack, James and Brooke; dear brother of the late Lou (the late Carol) DiPinto , “Brother Bob” Delaney and he was a fond uncle of many.


Al was a  Korean War Veteran decorated with a UN Service Medal and Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star. After the war, Al started his career with an ad agency in Chicago. He was a very talented graphic artist. At the age of 11, Al was awarded a 1-year scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago, where he honed his art skills. He carried his art talents into his later life making hand-painted Christmas ornaments that grace many a family Christmas tree. Al had many talents—one of his best-known talents was dancing. Al was light on his feet, and his best partner was his wife, Kay.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, and friends and family are asked to meet at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 7958 W. Foster Ave., Chicago, for Mass at 10:30 a.m. The interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL. For more information call (708) 456-8300.
