Alexis Elizabeth Sakellarides, age 35, passed away on September 11, 2017. Alexis was the beloved daughter of John and Barbara Lynn Sakellarides (nee Brownfield), brother of Theo Sakellarides and half-sister of the late Maria Sakellarides. Alexis was the beloved granddaughter of Ivan and Doris Nelson Laucik, who were active members in the Chicago Swedish community. As a child, Alexis recognized her inherited musical talent by playing the violin for many years under the guidance of her father, musician and notable pianist John Sakellarides. She embraced her Swedish heritage through her membership in the Sverige Barnen choir of Chicago where she made many lasting friendships and was honored with the title of St. Lucia as a teenager. After graduating from Lake Park High School, Alexis set her sights on a career in the food and hospitality industry. While attending classes at Harper College, Alexis excelled in multiple hospitality venues as a server, hostess, bartender and manager. During her many years of working at Mia Cucina restaurant in Palatine, IL, Alexis expanded her network and became a trusted party planner and hospitality expert for many extravagant private parties given by customers who were impressed by her knowledge and talents. Alexis was a lover of South American culture and loved traveling with her dear mother to Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mexico City, Mexico. Alexis was a detail oriented and hardworking woman who was driven by her love for pleasing others with food and loyal service in many well-known restaurants in the Chicago area. Alexis is pre-deceased by her parents. She leaves behind her brother, her aunt Susan (Richard) Bloss, cousins Rick (Laura) Bloss and Jonathan (Anna) Bloss, many nieces and nephews and several dear friends who will miss her cheerful manner.
