Alexander Gorel

October 8, 1920 — October 8, 2013

Mr. Gorel joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and was a member of the 82nd Airborne's 654th engineer Battalion. He served at Omaha Beach, Witnessed the liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camp, and Participated in the great German Counterattack know to history as the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. He was the recipient of Good Conduct Medal, Victor Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a communicant of Mary Seat of Wisdom Church and the Church of the Immaculate Conception, as well as a participant of the St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge. He was a longtime member of the Secular Franciscan Order. His loving heart, quick wit and generous nature will be fond memories and will be remembered always. He touched many lives and will be missed.
