Dorothy Jane Flahive (nee Cavallaro) passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Jan.1st. She was 92 years. Born in Chicago on Monday, December 12,1925, she was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Antoinette Cavallaro (nee Cremer) and a brother Elmer. In addition to her daughter Colleen Muscarella (Fred), she was a beloved grandmother to; Danette (Andy), Frank, Anthony (Amy) and Nicholas Muscarella. She was also a Great Grandmother to five; Sam, Jack and Olivia Goodwin, and Sadie and Mae Muscarella. Dorothy was a resident of Norridge, IL. living in the same home for over 68 years, she participated in many of the Village's senior activities and served her community as an election judge. Both an avid animal lover and lover of nature she was always up for a good walk, ride on a boat or drive in the country. She loved to travel, whether it was on one of many cruises she took with friends or road trips with family. Her great love was sewing and she spent many years as a seamstress and then several more years in the accounting department of Binks Manufacturing in Franklin Park, from which she retired 30 years ago and where she formed lasting friendships. Dorothy was dearly loved by all who knew her. She was the “Butterfly Lady”. Her family is forever grateful that the last years of her life were enhanced by her loving caregivers Reyna and Fernanda and for the care and comfort provided by Accord Hospice. A private celebration of her life will be held in her “Mayberry”, at a DTBD. Donations may be made in her honor to P.A.W.S. of Tinley Park, IL., where her beloved “Butchy- Boy” was adopted from. www.pawstinleypark.org
